While Alex Ljung steps down as CEO of SoundCloud and moves on as chairman of the board a new CEO is coming in. Former Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor replaces him. Mike Weissman will become COO as SoundCloud co-founder and CTO Eric Wahlforss stays as chief product officer.

Ein aktuelles Interview ist der Anlass für dieses Essay über den Stand des Musikbusiness 2017.  Das Gespräch mit Anita Carstensen fand im Rahmen eines gemeinsamen Forschungsprojekts der Berlin Music Commission und der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin zum digitalen Umbruch des Musikmarkts statt. Ziel des Projektes ist es, gemeinsam mit Experten der Musikbranche Implikationen und Herausforderungen der Digitalisierung für die Musikindustrie zu erarbeiten und darzustellen, welche neuen Möglichkeiten des Marketings sich hier für Künstler bieten.

Recently the complete music catalog of PRINCE was made available on streaming services for the first time. Also the last notorious refusers, the German band: Die Toten Hosen recently flodded streaming services with their music. Sounds great, right? Everything there. Always. And Forever. No?
